Sunrise Prayer

While attending a class on missions, I was greatly inspired by the pastor of a Korean church in Denver. He had just finished sharing with his classmates how God had been doing some amazing things through his church family. A small missions team from their church had just arrived from Lima, Peru. Here they have held crusades totaling over 50,000 children. In August they hosted an event called ‘Abba, Peru,’ where they have raised up 5000 students. These students are now in a training and discipling program to be sent out as missionaries in their own communities. All this from a church barely bigger than our own! How did they do this? Prayer. The truth is, they really didn’t do all that much – except pray. Every day, at 5:30 (that’s right…I said 5:30 AM) the church gathers together to pray. By church, I don’t mean just a handful of people, we’re talking nearly the whole church! At first I was amazed, then saddened about my own prayer life, then convicted and finally challenged. Perhaps God is calling Cornerstone to that same commitment to prayer? I think he is. Jesus declared that his church shall be called a house of prayer. God desires us to be in fervent, hardcore, callous the knees, drenching the floor with our tears type of prayer. Passionate and consistent prayer has provided the fuel for every awakening and revival the world has ever seen. What amazing things will we see God do if his people prayed? Let’s find out.
